[mythtv-users] Anything special about upgrading?

The database updates are applied whether you run mythtv-setup or 
mythbackend or mythfrontend (so make sure they are all the same 
version).  However, you /should/ run mythtv-setup to check the values in 
case you need to adjust them.  And, you /really should/ start 
mythbackend before mythfrontend...

For example, if running PVR-x50's and if your packager automatically 
upgrades you from a 0.2.x series driver to 0.4.x, the driver makes 
changes which require you to re-define your card inputs.  There may be 
other occasions where running mythtv-setup first is required, too.
