Close, but:

"tuner0" is the name of the input to the tuner card, and is  
meaningful only to ivtvctl.

The device will be /dev/video0 (assuming that you have only 1 card),  
which is probably just a link from /dev/v4l/video0.

Do a "cat /dev/video*" to see what video devices you have, also the  
boot up messages from ivtv will show you which device is which.

So "cat /dev/video0 > testvid" should yield an mpeg2 file. The input  
and channel need to be selected by something, ivtvctl would do it but  
if the card has already been spoken to by MythTV it should stay in  
whatever configuration it was left in.
