[mythtv-users] Fedora FC4 vs. SiS 7012 Onboard Sound

First of all I am a relative mythtv newbie, but I have been tooling about
with linux for the last 6 or 7 years. I am, however, no expert.
I have Fedora FC4 installed with MythTV according to the HOW-TO written here
http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php . I have an ASUS P4SDR-VM motherboard
with a SiS 7012 on board sound chip which is driving me bonkers. The Alsa
support for this chip is provided by the intel8x0 module. My TV capture card
is an ancient Hauppauge WINTV PCI (BT848), I have the line out on the WINTV
PCI connected to the line in of the on board sound card.

Under kmix I have the line in input muted, with capture enabled on the line
in input as well as the capture input (does that make sense?).

Sound works perfectly when performing the following command.

$  /usr/bin/aplay /usr/share/sounds/KDE_Startup.wav

When I fire up mythfrontend and go to Watch TV I only get sound from the
right channel. If I switch out to kmix and unmute the line in input I can
hear the left channel (naturally it isn't in sync).

I did notice that a few others have had similar problems with no
resolution, but I thought I would throw my hat into the ring to see if I
could get a resolution. Please let me know if there is any other info you
would have me provide (modeprobe.conf, .asoundrc, though my .asoundrc is the
basic one suggested at http://wilsonet.com/mythtv/fcmyth.php).

Note: I have read here (http://www.infosys.tuwien.ac.at/Staff/tg/SiS7012/)
and ina few other places that he SiS 7012 does not support input and output
at any rates other than 48kHz, but I am not sure how or even if this is
relevant to me.

Ray.
