I'm rebuilding most of my "infrastruture" over the weekend. I've built a
new backend using Ubuntu 61.0, and the documentation on help.ubuntu.com
about this.

This is mostly work. The only remianing issues with it are lirc, TV out on
the PVR-350, and controling access to MythWeb.

But the thing that has my frustration level maxed out is thta none (of the
3 I have tried so far) frontends can connect to this backend:

2006-12-30 13:53:36.852 Registering Internal as a media playback plugin.
2006-12-30 13:53:49.522 New DB connection, total: 2
2006-12-30 13:53:49.526 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: panda
2006-12-30 13:53:49.630 Connecting to backend server: panda:6543 (try 1 of
5)
2006-12-30 13:53:49.642 Connection timed out.

The ports show open:

Interesting ports on panda.fas.com (205.159.77.232):

2 of the machines wer new workstations for my wife, and I that I had been
playing with Myth for about a week on, so I thought maybe the problem was a
remnant of this, I built a completly fresh install following the "Frontend
Only" guidlines, and it suffers the same problem.

Any sugestions? It _si_ possible to run a frontend only, with it being a
slave backend, right?
