Nope, you shouldn't have to do anything special.  I'm using an 880 with the
IR receiver on a PVR-350 and all works great.  IIRC from setting it up there
are several different myth configs available to the 880.  I don't recall
which one I picked, but one of the predefined ones worked great for me.  I
believe I just did a little trial and error on the various myth options
until I got one that worked for me.  Once I found the right one, everything
in myth is controlled beautifully from the 880.  Not a single problem that I
can think of.
