Hi Steve,

>>What resolution are you aiming for?

Probably a bit of suck-it-and-see at first to see what gets the best
results; I don't believe there is any way around the in-built overscanning
of the 507 via HDMI (and VGA suffers from tearing, so I'm told, so I haven't
bothered going down that route)... it will support the following on HDMI :-

	1920X1080i @ 50Hz
	720x576p @ 50Hz
	1280x720p @ 50Hz
	720(1440)x576i @ 50Hz
	1920x1080i @ 59.94/60Hz
	720x480p @ 59.94/60Hz
	1280x720p @ 59.94/60Hz
	720(1440)x480i @ 59.94/60Hz
	1920x1080p @ 24Hz

I'm thinking 1280x720p @ 60Hz is the nearest to it's native resolution of
1365x768 but I'm willing to bow to other people's knowledge on better modes.
I imagine the 480p might be worth getting working and checking too for
standard definition stuff?

I checked this out and a lot (all) of the decent resolutions were being
ditched because they were outside of the reported panel size from EDID -
which is coming back as 1920x540. I think this is because it's reporting it
wants people to drive it at 1080i.

Dump of the appropriate section is below :-

Those all get rejected due to bad mode clocks, interlace or doublescan
settings. But I got playing with the modeline generator (xtiming) and came
up with some others - but they all get rejected with (example) :-

(II) NV(0): Mode "1280x720 at 60" is larger than BIOS programmed panel size of
1920 x 540. Removing.
(II) NV(0): Not using mode "1280x720 at 60" (unknown reason)

It seems the reported panel size is the limitation. Since it's only
reporting a vertical size of 540 I guess the most I can hope for is to drive
this at 1080i (a valid input mode) and hope the TV's scaling/overscanning
does a good enough job of it. Unless anyone knows of a way around the
reported panel size? I've tried the "IgnoreEDID" and "NoDDC" settings
temporarily, but it makes no difference. Other option is to *try* the VGA :(

I'll fiddle with trying to find a usable 1080i modeline.... <grumble> :]

Cheers,
Dan
