I use a toughball mini wireless keyboard

, its RF and uses a single usb dongle, the function keys do not work
but otherwise it works very well with linux.
There is a scroll wheel on the left hand side that you cannot see in the photo.
It rests nicely on my lap and is equally usable on a table or sofa arm.
If i use the event device rather than the mouse device in xorg.conf
the trackball is too sensitive, a quick xset m 0 0 sorts that out.
