[mythtv-users] lirc-0.8.0-r5 gives unknown symbol and readlink() failed?

I've managed to get my gentoo 2.6.15-gentoo-r1 with lirc-0.7.0-r1 working
I have a realmagic remote control with the following configuration:

Lirc-0.7.0-r1 configuration:
/etc/make.conf
LIRC_OPTS="--with-driver=any"

/etc/conf.d/lircd
# Options to pass to the lircd process
LIRCD_OPTS="--driver=pixelview -d /dev/lirc0"

and not loading any kernel module.

Now I'm about to update and

emerging lirc gives me the following output (the same for recompiling a new
kernel):
 * Updating module dependencies for 2.6.18-gentoo-r3 ...

 * Adding module to moduledb.
 * The lirc Linux Infrared Remote Control Package has been

 * GNU info directory index is up-to-date.

Here's the lirc-0.8.0-r5 configuration:
/etc/make.conf
#LIRC_OPTS="--with-driver=any"
LIRC_DEVICES="all"

/etc/conf.d/lircd
The same as for Lirc-0.7.0-r1

No modules loaded as before

Starting lircd and lirmd:
HTPC init.d # ./lircd start
 * Starting lircd ...
                                                 [ ok ]
HTPC init.d # ./lircmd start
 * Starting lircmd ...
                                                 [ !! ]
HTPC init.d # ./lircmd start
 * Starting lircmd ...
lircmd: could not connect to socket
lircmd: Connection refused
                                                 [ !! ]

Here's the output from /var/log/messeges:
Dec  8 07:21:08 HTPC lircd-0.8.0[3199]: lircd(all) ready
Dec 8 07:21:15 HTPC lircd-0.8.0[3199]: accepted new client on /dev/lircd
Dec  8 07:21:15 HTPC lircd-0.8.0[3199]: readlink() failed for "/dev/lirc0"
Dec 8 07:21:15 HTPC lircd-0.8.0[3199]: No such file or directory
Dec 8 07:21:15 HTPC lircd-0.8.0[3199]: could not create lock files
Dec  8 07:21:15 HTPC lircd-0.8.0[3199]: caught signal

So my questions are:
1. What should I use for the LIRC_DEVICES?
2. How do I correct the error messages?
3. And most important how do i get lirc to work?
