If he's seeing the "No jobs" message mtd is already running. If it's not
running it'll prompt you to push any number key to start it.

I would check the mtd.log to see if there are any clues. It's located in
the mythdvd temp directory. (I believe /var/lib/mythdvd/temp is
default.)
