MythTV shouldn't stop recording at ever on errors in the DVB stream.

There is a ticket #2664 on MythTV crashes on invalid PMT tables,
this problem would also effect invalid PAT tables, but only for
people using certain DVB cards which screw up the CRC.

For crashes during the preview generation, these are caused by bugs
in ffmpeg which we would like to fix as well. We would need a
backtrace to get started and possibly a small sample of the video.

Any other crashes are problems I'm not aware of...

In any case to set up mythbackend to restart after a crash have
a look at your /etc/init.d/mythbackend script, you should be able
to set it up to automatically restart MythTV. These scripts are
highly dependent on the distro so I can't help much with this.
There are some init.d scripts floating around which restart MythTV
on crashes.
