[mythtv-users] OT: Dish Network - LIRC - Serial hack

Hey, has anyone ever modified a Dish network box with a cable
input to add a direct connection to the box?  Something like an opto-isolator
direct connected to the IR eye?  I have intermittent problems with channel 
changes depending on time of day and how much sunlight is in the room.
I'd like to just plug it into a serial port like the directv guys get to.

Any ideas?
