The problem you're having is probably caused by the fact that ivtv 
0.6.3 is for the 2.6.16 kernel *ONLY*, and 0.7.0 is for the 2.6.17 
kernel *ONLY*.

When the 2.6.18 kernel is released there will be a new ivtv 0.8.0 
to match.  Things will probably settle down again once the V4L2 
migration into the kernel is complete.
