That did it here for me as well. Unfortunately, now I'm running into a 
ton of ' cx8802_timeout ' messages
when attempting to (ab)use dtvsignal.

However, when I unloaded several cx88* modules, dtvsignal works. 
Unfortunately, this removes everything
from /dev/dvb/*, leaving things unusable.

dtvscan runs (but finds nothing) with those modules loaded. With the 
modules unloaded, it bombs.

Off to play some more...
