[mythtv-users] sql database (reinstalling OS without losing recordings)

I managed to wreck the kernel sources on my computer and had to re-install
the operating system and myth but I didn't want to lose my recordings. The
recordings were on a different partition so I didn't touch that partition during
reinstall.
Now I have recordings with nothing in the sql database. It was actually trivial
to use mplayer to play the recordings (I wish Myth had some of the features this
slick player has) and determine which one was which and watch them.
Too bad about commercial data getting lost but mplayer has a 'skip ahead
60 seconds' feature which is helpful with ads. Just exit myth, open an
xterm window, go to the \myth\tv\ folder. List files with ls -l, play them
by typing:
mplayer filename.mpg
I renamed them all to names that made sense to me with the "mv" command
and to keep from getting them confused with new recordings.
