I'm not able to use S/PDIF mainly because my amplifier has no S/PDIF
input source.

I tried your .asoundrc anyway but it doesn't seem to help. I cannot set
the IEC958 Playback Source to PCM, I only have "A/D Converter and
AC-Link".
