I just tried an experiment. I used the wire that's between WinTV audio
out and the sound "card" line-in. I put it between my laptop audio out
and the sound "card" line-in, and the sound played from the laptop
through the speakers on the FC5 desktop box.
This suggests to me that FC5 or mythtv has turned off the audio output
from the WinTV card, and it doesn't have anything to do with the sound
settings on the sound "card". Either that, or the WinTV card's audio
isn't set up properly. When I remove the wire on FC4, the sound on
mythtv disappears.
Another experiment: When I plug the (amplified) speakers directly into
the audio-out on the WinTV card, guess what? FC4 produces audio in
wintv, and FC5 doesn't.
