Are you sure that your signal is not plain bad? Have you tried hooking
tv directly to the socket and using its internal tuner?

I have PVR500 which is basically two 150s and my signal varies based
on what channel I'm watching. Some are crap, some are really sharp
like SciFi (which is what matters ;-)

Also I increased the resulution on analog tuners to 720x480 (max) and
it made a difference.
