Are you serious? That's insane. When they were new on the market I  
think the list price was $79US, and I bought one on closeout at Radio  
Shack for $29US. I'm not sure what the exchange rate is, but it can't  
possibly be that lopsided.

Is that representative of all computer prices there? I would not pay  
that much for one here, I think you could throw something more  
capable together, or even use an X-Box or perhaps a used Mac Mini.

For that matter a used PIII with a PVR-350 in it wouldn't cost all  
that much more.

I read some computer mags from the UK, and I have noticed that prices  
seem much higher there than in the US, but not that much higher.

What would the regulations say about somebody in the US shipping you  
a unit? Would you have to pay duty on the AU price or the actual  
price paid in the US? Can "gifts" be sent duty-free?
