[mythtv-users] I Strayed! Now I want to come back, but with caveats

Yeah, being able to export playlists to myth from itunes would make sense
too, as long as I could automate it. Or, make a myth plugin that read
playlists stored in a shared folder, and ran them through some sort of path
replacing filter.

Ie, read "/mnt/iTunesPlaylists"
Then for each file in the playlist, you would have to tell it what the new
base path to the library was.

Anyway, just searching for ideas to make the music work a little better.

2 cents on myth and itunes.

While this would be a pretty nifty feature it seems a little backward to
me to have to have a win or mac on in order to play music in myth. It
seems to make more sense to me to store my music on my myth box and
share it with samba. Then have my win box connect to it with a mapped
drive or something. That way you can use itunes to add music and keep
things in order, but its stored where myth can use it. Besides that I'm
more likely to have my myth box up 24x7 than windows.

With that said I do see an advantage in being able to connect to itunes.
It would be nice for my buddy to come in, hook up his laptop to the
network and be able to play his playlists. Or to make my playlists in
itunes and have access to them in myth. There may be a way to export
them from itunes and import them into myth that may be a little easier
to hack together. Not to mention apple could change their protocol on a
whim and break myths ability to connect. They have done similar before,
and that was just between different versions of itunes. At least their
playlists are in plain text.
