Mike, I am now using the other .asoundrc.  My original post had an 
interim .asoundrc.  The trouble I'm having is when I select the "Enable 
AC3 to SPIF" option, my analog audio sounds like chipmunks.  I have set 
my device to ALSA:digital.  I'm at a loss.\
