Are you sure Myth is what you want?

The ability to manage two weeks worth of schedules for hundreds of  
channels, import and manage Video DVDs and Music CDs, detect and skip  
commercials, edit videos, transcode from one format to another,   
gather news feeds and weather reports, display web pages, keep track  
of thousands of recorded programs, speed up and slow down recording  
playback and dozens of other things all seems like a bit of overkill  
for what you are describing.

About the only thing that Myth *can't* do is control a camera, one of  
your basic requirements.

Not that I would want to discourage any potential Myth user, but  
think about it.
