Yeah, you're probably right -- but I'd hate to do that -- because
xorg.conf seems to temperamental to each driver version.

Do you use an automatic creation utility?

BTW: I removed my modeline for 640x480 (which took me a while to craft!)
and just placed the standard Modes in the Screen section, And I'm back
to 640x480. Here's the xorg.conf setting for the TV now:
