[mythtv-users] how to verify lirc native mode

OK. So it appears that we do have the lirc stuff linked in.  Now, to try
and figure
out wtf is going on why things aren't talking. 

1.  We can see commands with irw.
2.  We can see commands with ircat.
3. lirc appears to be linked in with the executable of mythtv.
4. mythtv works fine with the keyboard, can watch livetv scroll through
menus
   and watch recorded shows.

What else could it be?  I'm at my wits end here, could there be an issue
with
focus?  I can use the keyboard so that seems "unlikely" but it could
still be
a window manager issue?  It seems that ircat and irw have no problem so
this seems unlikely.
