I've got one of those fanless FX5200 (Asus branded?) from Newegg on a system
with an Athlon64 3200+ (single core, socket 939). If I recall correctly,
HD playback usually takes 40-70% CPU with XvMC, kernel deinterlacing, and
"rtprio" realtime priority threads (FC4 x86, "Jarod" setup). I feel like I
chose the sweet spot, or close to it. My box (frontend/backend combo) doesn't
do enough to need a dual core CPU, but it does enough that a slower CPU
might not be up to the task, especially if playing HD and running commflag
-- not that I often use commflag much (really).
