I've got a Samsung LCD panel (LT-P266W). Using the specs in the user
manual, I generated a modeline using gtf which was included with the
xorg package(GTF - Generalized Timing Formula - video information was
provided in my manual) . To generate the modelines is simple:
gtf 1280 768 60 where
1280 is horizontal
768 is vertical
60 is refresh rate
pvrbox mythtv # gtf 1280 768 60
# 1280x768 @ 60.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 47.70 kHz; pclk: 80.14 MHz
Modeline "1280x768_60.00" 80.14 1280 1344 1480 1680 768 769 772
795 -HSync +Vsync
Then I copied these lines to the Monitor section of my xorg.cong. In
the Screens sections I was interested in (24 and 16), I added
"1280x768_60.00" at the beginning so that this was the first resolution
tried.
Fired up X and all was well with widescreen.
Hope this helps.
