Hm. Then maybe your problem differs from mine.

There's no onboard ethernet on the Asus A7V.

Hm. I'd prefer to use debian packages.
However, it's not possible anyway at this time, since some crazy
circumstances made this machine to work as a backup-server in my
company, and I forgot to pull the TV card. Stoopid! :-)

I also suspect ivtv and not mythtv, so I will try when I have my machine
back.
