[mythtv-users] high cpu utilization

on my test box (my desktop) when i'm watching live tv on the box the
_least_ cpu usage I get is 80%

it is an athlon xp 2500+,1gb of ram, kworld vstream xpert (vs-tv878rf),
and a radeon 9600 SE

top tells me the vast majority of the cpu usage is in backend.

I'm encoding live tv to mpeg4 at 2200bps, with two of the tree options
recommended for interlaced video enabled - mp3 at quality 6 and 32000bps
