[mythtv-users] Update on Xv/Interlace/ATI tvout

Awhile back, there was a query as to what a good solution to
generating high-quality tvout. Along with my homebrew 480i
(VGA->{composite,svid}) converter, some folks have wanted true interlaced
output from their VGA card for high-def.

I have verified that my FC3-based production machine with an
NV MX440 does have the "fake" interlaced output. The NV driver says it
does interlaced, but actually outputs only one field.

The old Rage128 Xv/Interlace bug is still present in FC4's xorg...
only the top half of the video is played, but takes up full frame. The
good news is that an even older Mach64-based card (using 'ati' driver)
does not have such problems. Also, my Radeon 8500 (using the 'radeon'
driver) seems to work correctly as well.

I'm not excited about putting on the proprietary drivers for the
ATI card, nor to test NV, since I've found a workable solution for the new
box I'm building. Unless you're planning on using 3D acceleration or
XvMC, proprietary drivers are one more point of failure IMO.

Yay... now to finish the transition to the new machine and
hopefully get a cleaner system with higher quality output.
