Estimating filesizes has long since been resolved as a complication
(Check the dev archive around mid july 05 for various ideas for doing
this).  

All that is needed is a patch from someone that does it.

Oh, and if people do want to contribute other good and useful things, .. we won't 
stop you, it would be a nice break for those that have done so much so
far.
