Yes, talking caller id does sound pretty cool.

But I think it might depend on your situation. I wouldn't hear something 
like that in other rooms where I have myth frontends. But if I got bored 
one day, I could write a little listener on windows to run the XML 
broadcast through MS Agent. Or I could make a little listener on linux 
to do the same thing through festival. Heck, I could even make it email 
my phone or work every time somebody calls. And since I have 2 servers 
running misc tasks around the house, I could have one of those speak all 
the time. Geek factor is unlimited once you have something you can 
already get at. That is why I would rather have something with unlimited 
access for $100 rather than a device that only does what somebody else 
told it to do. (my main reason for having mythtv in the first place)
