[mythtv-users] Can mythfilldatabase delete recordings?

Hi list,

My mythbox is deleting recordings on me, even though I have auto-expire
off, there's enough room on the disk, and there is no episode max.

I cannot find any log information for why the files are being deleted. 
However, it seems to happen in the late morning, which is when
mythfilldatabase runs.

Is there something going on in here that would also delete recordings? 
Is there anyway I can figure out what the heck is going on?  I even
reformatted and reinstalled everything (FC4, 18.1) and I'm still having
the deleting-stuff-after-a-day-or-so problem.
