This usually means the kernel module cx8800 was not compiled for the
kernel you're running.  Did you install the lirc-kmdl-`uname -r`?

When the FC4 2.6.13 kernel came out, I stayed back on the latest 2.6.12
since I didn't know how quickly freshmeat and atrpms would have updated
kernel module rpms for lirc, etc.
