Agreed, if your wired network card works and you don't want to touch anything
just use a bridge. Installing a wireless card isn't tough. There are plenty
of wireless network cards that will work. Wireless is probably not enabled in
the kernel so, depending on what is already compiled in, you probably will
need to recompile your kernel. You'll need to edit the file /etc/conf.d/net .
The next step depends on what card you decide to use. I'm using a Gentoo box
with a Netgear WG311T 802.11g card, madwifi-driver will need to be installed
with "emerge madwifi-driver" Some 802.11b card drivers are already included
in the kernel. Depending on your network and type of security used some other
tools may need to be installed. I really don't want to scare you way from
wireless cards. The thing I cannot stress enough is to make sure you buy a
card that is supported.
