A very easy way to test DVB (assuming you have a valid channels.conf
file in ~/.tzap) is:

tzap -o - "BBC TWO" |xine stdin://

tzap takes care of all the tuning and puts the stream to standard out,
and then xine (or mplayer) reads it in and displays it.
