odd, I have no issues with 7738, same video card, but Athlon64 3200+, no 
attempt to use XvMC, and I have no idea if I'm using OpenGL or not...

is this with live TV or recordings?

the combing you will see and is kinda inevitable if you output a 1080i signal 
via 720p. I imagine 1080i out via 1080i would not show the combing, though 
I'm not positive as I haven't the fascilities to test.
