[mythtv-users] Can I transcode into a diferent aspect ratio.

I have some recording whitch when played native (i.e. without changing
the aspect ratio) apear in a box with black borders on all 2 sides
(these borders are around 10%).  I can change the aspect ration to get
them to fill the screen but if I burn to DVD I still get the borders. 
Is it possible to transcode to a different aspect ratio so they fill
the screen?
