For a frontend? I'm not surprised (I think you mean MPEG DEcoding, not
ENCoding).

Oh, and as it runs from a 12v DC power supply, an in-car frontend,
perhaps? Maybe grab the Wi-Fi version and use RSync to make an
on-the-road frontend...

Something like that?
