Yea, for me, the /dev/lirc/0 char device file just dissappears. I have 
no idea whats going on. Even a reboot will not fix it. Modules are 
loading ok, lspci, dmesg, logs all look ok.  Very frustrating - I"m 
starting to wonder if the hardware is ok.
