Try /dev/v4l/video0

You do need video4linux support built into your kernel.

That's what I did for my PVR-150. It seems to work. However I'm having
to modprobe the drivers by hand. If loaded at boot time they only
produce a blue screen in the video.

I'm not familiar with the MCE version.
