You could get a working QT by downgrading or, if you really want the one
that needs <Ctrl>-Enter, try:

<snip>

Pretty sure you have to use irxevent since LIRC simply sends strings to
the app and you need a specific key sequence, so you have to send an X
event...

Are you sure that you can just downgrade QT? I had tried this a while ago but apt won't let you do it. It reports that myth 0.18 is dependent on qt 3.3.4. (I think that this has something to do with the other qt bug. - The times being an hour off.) I guess I could force the install, but wouldn't I just end up with the time issue anyway?

FYI - After some searching around, I think that this is the bug that documents the issue: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=156572. The bug mentions working around the issue by recompiling qt without immodule support. Does anyone know if this is a good idea, or if I will just end up breaking something else?

WRT lirc and irxevent , I'd be more than happy to try this if I could get Lirc working with my ATI remote wonder. I have gotten the ati_remote driver working perfectly, but after a few weeks of troubleshooting Lirc seems like a lost cause.

Thanks
J
