Nathan, do you have the parallel one or the USB one?
I personally have the USB one that came with the Accent HT-400B case
(http://www.arisetec.com/products/HT-400.htm) and I'm having zero luck
myself. Apparently the parallel one is the HD44780, not sure if the USB
one is the same. The display is
http://www.arisetec.com/products/VFD_usb.htm.
What I've tried so far is:
Changes I made to LCDd.conf are:
[server]
Driver=HD44780
[HD44780]
ConnectionType=usblcd
Backlight=yes
Size=16x2
Device=/dev/usb/usblcd
Then I load the usblcd module via "modprobe usblcd"
The following appears in /var/log/syslog
May 23 11:52:21 mythtv kernel: usbcore: registered new driver usblcd
May 23 11:52:21 mythtv kernel: drivers/usb/misc/usblcd.c: USBLCD Driver
Version 1.04 (C) Adams IT Services http://www.usblcd.de
May 23 11:52:21 mythtv kernel: drivers/usb/misc/usblcd.c: USBLCD support
registered
Then I run /etc/init.d/LCDd start and get:
Starting LCDd CVS-stable-0-4-3-20020127: LCDd
And in syslog I get:
May 23 11:53:14 mythtv LCDd: HD44780: USBLCD: could not open device
/dev/usb/usblcd (No such device)
May 23 11:53:14 mythtv LCDd: Driver load failed, return code < 0
May 23 11:53:14 mythtv LCDd: Could not load driver HD44780
May 23 11:53:14 mythtv LCDd: There is no output driver
May 23 11:53:14 mythtv LCDd: Critical error: main.c:238, abort
I have no idea where to go from there, but I'm also having zero luck
getting the remote control to work in this case too. :-(
