[mythtv-users] mtd was built without transcode support. It won't do anything.

I have recently updated the debian packages and since the upgrade I have 
not been able to get mtd to work.  I get the following error:
mtd was built without transcode support. It won't do anything.

Yes, transcode is install and updated.

I have tried apt-get --reinstalling the packages, but success

Any help would be greatly appreciated.  The only thing that I can not do 
is import a dvd (maybe CD's but I do not do that)
