To use MythTV, your right.

To learn about Linux/UNIX, I aruge otherwise. Every single UNIX box
that I have used in the last 20 years had vi installed. That is true
for no other editor (unless you count /bin/ed or /bin/cat as editors
;)

What will you do when your nvidia driver update hoses xwindows and all
you have is a console? What about when you ssh from Windows?

Whatever editor people choose to use for their programming or daily
editing is one thing, but everyone who admins one or more linux
machines really should at least know how to open a file, change the
contents, save, and exit with vi
