I'm really using this setup if I want to do some encoding or compiling from work
and need something with more horsepower than an Epia 10K.

Typically I'll log into the backend and do a "heyu turn frontend off"
followed by a
"heyu turn frontend on" . 

Your right though, if I'm at home I just hit the power button or
usually just jiggle the
mouse (seems the wake-on-usb works just fine) to start the frontend.
