[mythtv-users] Selection Boxes Cut off Program Titles in 0.16 and 0.17?

I'm in to final tweeks on my myth box (wow I finally got there) - one
outstanding problem that bugs me is that no matter what dpi i set -
the themes all seem to have screens where the font is too big and gets
cut off. e.g. In the listing of recordings by alphabet - the selection
square doesn't surround the title properly it seems one pixel too low
and extends a few pixels down too far. (I get the same thing in the
Media Library, Upcoming recordings, Deletions)

Mine looks like this ( the name of the program is right next to the
lines of the selection (cursor?) - almost too close:

I think its supposed to (and on the mythtv example pictures) look like
this (e.g. centered):

When I added aditional fonts (msttcorefonts) it certainly improved
things (before in the example Vanilla Sky was slightly clipped)
however its still not right and I'm not sure what causes it.

At first I thought it was dpi - but adding the fonts improved things -
where'as dpi settings did nothing (i am running at 100 dpi - have
tried 96 and this did nothing).

This true for all of the themes - so i'm sure its a setting I have got
wrong. I'm using debian ubuntu - 800x600 and the dpi resolution
xdpyinfo reports is 100 (for DisplaySize in my xorg.config i did the
suggested (800*25.4)/100 sizes).

I'm sure it must be something I'm missing in the Ubuntu installation
but I just havne't got a clue where to look.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
