Thanks Mike!  So much good information, it will take me a while
to get thru it all.  The bonus in your reply, using VLC to watch TV
on the handheld, is really something.  I use VLC sometimes to
see what the quality of a particular HDTV signal is, BEFORE 
bringing up mythfrontend.  There's a difference in how the two
handle weak signals, with mythfrontend just sort of hanging.
VLC on the other hand, stumbles along with POPs and CRACKLEs
and lots of error messages.
