Don't know if this is your problem, but the latest version(s) of mplayer
have a bug in the "odml" index code that causes it to choke on files >
2GB. To fix it you'd need to either downgrade mplayer (not sure how
far) or upgrade to mplayer CVS (fix hasn't been released yet). I've
switched to Xine for now.
