I had this problem upgrading to KnoppMyth R5A12 ... it needed a reboot 
after moving the the module, (even after a rmmod / modprobe for the new 
one). Sort of troubling, but there were other things to get working at 
the time.

Btw, does anyone have a quick way to recompile and install the 
ati_remote module in the 2.6 source tree? I end up having to make all 
the modules with 'make -C /usr/src/linux SUBDIR=`pwd` modules' and 
modules_install (plus reinstalling the nvdida-modules). This seems a 
little overkill.
