Ok, this is what I tried, untarred lirc-0.7.0.tar.gz, ./configure, make,
make install.
dothedog:/lirc-0.7.0 # rmmod lirc_i2c
dothedog:/lirc-0.7.0 # rmmod lirc_dev
dothedog:/lirc-0.7.0 # rmmod ivtv
dothedog:/lirc-0.7.0 # modprobe lirc_i2c
dothedog:/lirc-0.7.0 # modprobe lirc_dev
dothedog:/lirc-0.7.0 # modprobe ivtv
dothedog:/lirc-0.7.0 # lircd -n
In a second terminal
dad at dothedog:~/download/lirc-0.7.0> cd tools
dad at dothedog:~/download/lirc-0.7.0/tools> ./irw
And I get this;
dothedog:/lirc-0.7.0 # lircd -n
lircd 0.7.0: lircd(H=) ready
lircd 0.7.0: accepted new client on H=
lircd 0.7.0: Segmentation fault
Same thing. So it doesn't look like a version problem.
After I start irw I get this in dmesg:
lircd[26754]: segfault at ffffffffffffffc0 rip 00002aaaaac2f320 rsp
00007fffffffbf78 error 4
Does this mean anything?
lirc_dev: no version for "struct_module" found: kernel tainted.
I get this in dmesg when loading the lirc_dev module.
Just an FYI, these are my devices/permissions. (root, user, and mythtv
are members of group mythtv)
dothedog:/dev # ls -l | grep lirc
crw-rw-rw- 1 root mythtv 61, 0 Mar 8 22:12 lirc
srw-rw-rw- 1 root mythtv 0 Mar 10 08:08 lircd
prw-rw-rw- 1 root mythtv 0 Oct 20 07:52 lircm
