Quite frankly, unless you're using RHEL, up2date sucks royally. I use apt
instead, almost exclusively.

Be prepared for a looooong road... There's quite a dependency chain to take
care of, but I do know of at least one Myth user who successfully traveled
the LFS route. Great route if you really want to learn how everything works
at a very low level, but a bit much time and effort if you simply want a
working Myth box.
And as long as you're on FC3 right now, you may want to take a peek at the
second link in my sig before jumping ship... Honestly, I fail to believe
changing distributions will magically make anything better, unless you're
switching to a distribution you're much more comfortable with.
